Adidas Originals Visual Merchandising Guide

  • Client: Adidas

  • Location: Global Roll Out

We were employed to originate and implement Visual Merchandising principles for the new adidas Originals brand store concept and create a Visual Merchandising guide to be used globally across all markets.

Working closely with the adidas style division from the beginning of the project, we adapted the design based on the prototype fixtures. We were able to maximise capacity and increase ease of shopping for the customer while maintaining the design essence of the new concept. Using the prototype fixtures, we created Visual Merchandising principles for each fixture and documented this information before roll out of the concept into the first stores. We worked with adidas global headquarters (HQ) and local teams to plan and manage the implementation of the new concept in the first two flagship stores, Berlin and New York. Both stores were completed within a week, which required careful planning and coaching of store teams to ensure everything was installed smoothly.

After two successful openings, all Visual Merchandising principles were tested and refined by monitoring sales and operational issues using feedback from the stores. We synthesised this information, together with photographs of the stores and fixtures, into a visual, user-friendly Visual Merchandising guide. Our team worked with adidas to train the key VM people from all global regions in a workshop using the Visual Mercahndsing guide and a model shop at adidas global HQ. The workshop helped to ensure that everyone understood the new concept and its Visual Merchandising principles, and prepared them to go back to their markets and implement them consistently.
